Please join us in welcoming three new team members! Maureen Mutoni joins us as the Flagship Bakery Manager on the Operations Team, Emmanuel Mbarushimana is our  Finance Assistant for our brand new Finance Department, and Joel Shyaka steps in as our Monitoring & Evaluation Associate on our Social Impact Team

Maureen believes that women are capable of achieving great things when they are empowered. She is passionate about helping people, especially women, in improving their standard of living with their families through creating social change programs, which in turn also helps to give back to the community. Maureen joins The Women’s Bakery with 6 years of experience in sales and operations. As the new Flagship Manager her responsibilities include managing business operations, sales, production, managing costs, and improving relationships with the clients.

Emmanuel believes that if women are socially and economically empowered, the whole society benefits. He is currently the Finance Assistant at TWB, where he has been highly motivated by its brilliant vision to build a network of women powered bakeries throughout East Africa. Emmanuel is a result-oriented Chartered Accountant with over 7 years’ experience in finance with a track record of delivering performance in various sectors; Banking, Public sector, Cement and FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industries, and the Rwanda Market. He is an affiliate in good standing with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from University of Rwanda. In his new role, Emmanuel has a special focus in the ongoing financial processes improvement efforts and establishing internal controls across all three of our bakeries. 

Joel believes that technology plays a variety of roles in supporting the development of women’s capacities and empowerment. He believes that investing in women from developing countries is essential in achieving development goals.Joel brings a background in Business and Technology after completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology. He has experience in international organizations and tech organizations. Previously, he served as a Market Coordinator in a US Fintech company named Leaf Global Fintech where he helped drive market efforts through progressive research. Prior to Leaf Global Fintech, Joel worked as an ICDL(Digital Literacy) Instructor in a Rwandan Private University where he has helped 97 students graduate with Computer Literacy Skills Certification. He has also served as a Tech support representative in an IT-based company in Kigali. As the Monitoring and Evaluation Associate at TWB, Joel leads data collection and analysis for the Social Impact program reports as well as The One Bread Project.
