Since incorporation as both a non-profit in the United States and a for-profit company in Rwanda in 2015, The Women’s Bakery has launched a network of bakeries in East Africa that sustainably, gainfully employ women. Women employed at TWB bakeries can double their incomes while also producing and selling nutritious bread products within their communities. To the core, The Women’s Bakery is locally supplied, locally sourced, and powered by women.

The foundation of The Women’s Bakery today stems from the grit, belief, innovation, and commitment from a team and network of people who saw the power of bread – for women, but also for communities and markets.
